The church is vibrant and creative and has a large proportion of young families, and young people. We also have a lively group of older people who provide care and encouragement.
We seek to follow basic Christian teaching as found in the Bible, believing firmly in Jesus Christ as the only way to know God for salvation. We also believe in the work of the Holy Spirit and encourage the exercise of the gifts of the Spirit as
experienced in the New Testament. We are part of the local Baptist Associationand we are members of the Evangelical Alliance- a national body with a membership of several hundred churches.

God established Welton Baptist Church over 120 years ago to serve Him in the local community. The vision He gave us then is just as relevant today and at its centre is a particular call to worship God, to earnest prayer, to build Christian fellowship amongst us and to evangelise and care for God’s world. Because of the growing numbers in the church we now meet each Sunday morning at Somervale School whilst our evening services are still held at the Chapel in West Road.
Our services will, we trust, express our relationship of love and joy with our heavenly Father, our need to learn more about Him and His will for our lives, and our determination to make an impact for Jesus in our local community. You may find our services a little noisier or much quieter than you expect or are used to in church but we hope that, whether we are noisy or quiet, you will discover the life-transforming reality of Jesus among us.
